Engineer Responds

Mr. X, owner of an inn, located in Ubatuba; asks about the benefits of naming an engineer, responding technically to a construction site, or renovating, or maintaining or adjusting a building.

Answering the question from Mrs. X, who asked not to be identified; we inform you that some of the benefits that it may have, when advised by an engineer, will be for example the saving of materials in a work, through structural calculations, soil tests and drilling, which may be carried out, before the purchase of the materials and start of services.

News of slabs that collapse or of leaning buildings are frequent, due to lack of study and adequate projects.

What happens is that if before the works was appointed a technical responsible, the owner can hold him and the same engineer should be held liable for damages, civil and criminal if any.

Unfortunately, the owners themselves, in most cases, only value the signature of the engineers, in order to obtain the releases of their works, together with the municipalities.

They forget the important technical guidelines that can be passed on to the executors, on safety procedures such as NR 18, NR 10, etc., which can prevent accidents at work and possible labor actions against the owner of the work.

Taking the opportunity to elaborate this response, for our dear reader; we also commented on a recent similar question:

Asked to put a neighbor on the reason we are renovating the electrical installations of a particular house, which is rented in the season, where the green earth wire was inserted, to be connected to the new plugs. We inform that the procedure was executed, to meet the new requirements of the current legislation. Moreover, this measure of regularization of the electrical installations may also prevent the occurrence of an accident with some guest, who happens to be staying in the said house, and that may even trigger the owner in court.

Many strokes (strokes) occur during the bath of people and are sometimes caused or confused with the lack of proper grounding in the shower.

Timely in our section "The Engineer Responds", we will present how it is a Report of Electrical Installations, what it contemplates ?, its purpose ?, who can elaborate ?, the measurements involved?, ... as is the case of a measurement of ground resistance, to check the maximum ground resistance value in the shower, so that it actually works, and avoid accidents, etc.

We hope we have been able to assist you, through these few lines, and we are at your disposal to resolve any other doubt of the esteemed reader.
